Straw, Gravity, Pump or Electric: Choosing a Camp Water Filter

Every filter style answers a different question. Match the tool to the trip and clean water stops being a chore.

Straw: For One Person, Zero Weight

Two ounces, no parts, no batteries – a straw filter turns a thousand gallons of stream water into drinking water on the spot. It is the solo hiker and go-bag answer. Its limit: you drink where the water is, or fill a bottle to sip through it.

Gravity: For the Whole Camp

Fill a 1.5-gallon bag, hang it, walk away – gravity does the pumping while you pitch the tent. Five-stage filtration with activated carbon also fixes taste, and the backwash function keeps flow rates honest trip after trip.

Electric: For Volume and Emergencies

One button, 700 ml a minute, and a battery that doubles as a phone charger with an SOS light. Electric purifiers earn their weight when you are processing water for a family – or an outage.

All four styles live in our Water Filtration collection.
