Privacy Policy

TrueForks respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.

We handle personal information in accordance with the *Privacy Act 1988* (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where we send marketing email, we also comply with the *Spam Act 2003* (Cth).

What we never see

We do not collect or store your card number. Payments are processed entirely by our payment provider on their own systems. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded or failed, and a reference number.

We also do not collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act — health, race, religion, political views, sexual orientation, criminal record or biometric data.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. Some are essential; others remember your preferences.

You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. If you block the WooCommerce cookies, the cart and checkout will not work.

Analytics and advertising tools

We may run third-party analytics or advertising scripts (for example Google Analytics or a Meta pixel). Where we do, those providers set their own cookies and receive information about your visit under their own privacy policies.

We do not currently run any third-party analytics or advertising scripts. If that changes, this section will be updated before the tools go live.

4. Why we use your information

We use personal information only for the purposes below.

To take payment for, pack and deliver your order
To send order confirmations, dispatch notices and tracking numbers
To answer your questions and handle warranty, return and refund requests
To confirm whether we can lawfully ship a product to your state or territory
To send marketing email, only if you have opted in
To detect and prevent fraud and misuse of discount codes
To keep the records we are required by law to keep
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it

We do not sell your personal information. We do not disclose it for another organisation’s marketing.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only to the extent necessary.

We require anyone handling personal information on our behalf to protect it to at least the standard set out in this policy.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of the services we rely on store data outside Australia. This may include our web host, email provider, payment provider and analytics provider, which may hold data in the United States, the European Union or other countries.

Before disclosing personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. However, once information is held overseas it may also be accessible under that country’s laws.

By placing an order you consent to this overseas disclosure for the purposes described above.

7. Marketing email

We send marketing email only to people who have opted in.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that works, and we act on unsubscribe requests promptly. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing [email protected].

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages — order confirmations, dispatch notices and replies to your enquiries — because those are necessary to complete your order.

8. How we protect your information

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access.

If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. How long we keep it

Order and transaction records — at least 5 years, as required by Australian taxation law
Email subscriber records — until you unsubscribe, then removed within a reasonable period
Enquiry correspondence — up to 2 years after the matter is resolved
Website analytics — according to the retention setting of the analytics provider

When information is no longer needed and we are not required to keep it, we delete it or de-identify it.

10. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may:

Ask what we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days. There is no fee for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for providing access in some circumstances.
Ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete.
Ask us to delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it.
Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
Deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym where it is lawful and practicable — though we cannot deliver an order without a real name and address.

If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing.

11. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

12. Children

Our products are not intended for purchase by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Other websites

Our site links to external websites, including government and legislation sites referenced in our weapons law guide. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. This policy applies only to information collected by us.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always appears on this page with its date at the top. If we make a significant change to how we handle personal information, we will make that clear on the website.
