Bands are the engine of a slingshot – and the only part that truly wears out. A few habits double their life and, more importantly, stop them snapping mid-draw.
Inspect Before Every Session

Run the band between two fingers before you shoot. Nicks, whitening or fraying at the pouch ties mean retirement – a compromised band fails at full stretch, right next to your face. Thirty seconds of checking beats a snapped band every time.
Store Them Like They Matter

Latex has two enemies: UV light and heat. Keep spares in their vacuum packs until needed, store frames out of direct sun, and never leave a slingshot on a car dashboard. Sealed spares stay factory-fresh for years; an opened band ages from day one.
Match the Band to the Job

Heavy multi-strand bands are glorious – and they demand a frame rated for the pull. Running 47 kg of rubber on a light pocket frame stresses the forks and your wrist. Match band weight to frame and ammo, and everything lasts longer, including your accuracy.
